Stuff I Saw: #Pitchtalks with @mererog @hockeyesque @Wilnerness590 @DShulman_ESPN … @Tallboysbar curate a fine and intimate series of baseball talks in Toronto and tonight’s edition, Pitch#2 Unravelling The Game, was just as delightful as the first one a couple of weeks ago.
The night kicked off with a fun presentation by Meredith Rogers who touched on how Twitter effects baseball fandom. She did an wonderful job, considering that her hero, Colby Rasmus, was sitting in the front row.
Dave Bidini, author and musician (Rheostatics, Bidini Band) and all around swell raconteur told tales of tuning in to listen to Jays games while rock-starring across Canada, and why the Canadian Consulate is a perfectly reasonable destination for daily Jays updates while tramping about Europe somewhere. He tells it better because it’s his story. Don’t judge me, I was trying not to spill beer.
The adorable Mike Wilner took the stage and promptly took down all of our Twitter handles just so he could block us. He knows we have swearing in our hearts and probably at our fingertips.
ESPN’s Dan Shulman rounded out the evening, and the fanboys swooned. No really! Actually we all swooned as Dan is a very handsome man. Has some great stories too.
Y’all should stay alert to the next Pitch Talk which happens in June. I won’t tell you exactly when because I want to make sure I get a ticket before they all sell out again. You’ve been warned.
This year’s #BlueJays season tickets are glorious; feast your eyes on the eyepoppin’ colour action shots!
There are 12 photos alternated for all of the tickets - 2 each of Bautista, Reyes, Lawrie, Dickey, Buehrle and Encarnacion. I love the look of these very much, but am super disappointed that they didn’t sneak in a bonus Rasmus or Kawasaki, or either of the 2-longest tenured Jays, Lind and Janssen. Oh well.
We are once again in possession of a circus quality lanyard bearing a plastic holder for the home opener ticket. It doesn’t show up well in the photo here, but the centre of this ticket is a silver foil Blue Jays logo.
They’re going to aim lasers at us at the game, aren’t they?
#BlueJays players participate in the annual Jesse Litsch & Bechtel Financial Celebrity Golf Tournament, and this year’s event was a beaut of a celebration for one participant’s fantastic announcement.
Check @Alleycat17's write-up on the event at the Canadian Baseball Work http://www.canadianbaseballnetwork.com/articles/jays-support-jesse-litsch-golf-tourney/ for behind the scenes details, because they did more that just play golf!
Hat-tip to the fab @TheRaysRenegade for posting a whack of pix on his FB for your viewing and loling pleasure.
